Introducing IT to the Public through Arkavidia 2.0
Saturday, February 19, 2011, the Informatics Student Association (HMIF) STEI – ITB held an introduction to IT (information technology) to the public through the Arkavidia event volume 2. In addition to introducing IT to the public, the event which took place in the West Hall of the ITB Campus, aimed to be a place to innovate and compete in the world of IT, such as competitions for school and university students. In addition, there were also seminars and expos that presented works in the IT field.
As a form of community service, Arkavidia 2.0 organized the Thousand Fingers Movement. The Thousand Fingers Movement is a form of community service from HMIF, which cares about the plight of the blind. The goal of this activity is to help blind people obtain books in braille. This is done by typing books into soft copies, which are then printed in braille.
There were two seminar sessions at the Arkavidia 2 event, namely IT Mobile and Education IT. Seminar speakers included Narendra Wicaksono, a mobile practitioner from Nokia Indonesia; Henry Subiakto, Expert Staff to the Minister for Communication and Mass Media; Engkos Koswara Natakusumah, Expert Staff to the Minister of State for Research and Technology; Dwi Hendratmo, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of STEI ITB, and many more.
Additionally, competitions in the programming, system design, and innovation contests will be held, with approximately 50 teams from high schools and universities participating. Presentations from the top five participants will be held on Saturday (February 19, 2011) at ITB. The expo will showcase IT innovations created by the general public and students from universities across Indonesia.
