PLN's Power Business in the Future
The Electrical Engineering Research Group of STEI ITB, on Saturday, February 19, 2011, held a public lecture with the theme "PLN's Electricity Business in the Future." The public lecture, held at the Campus Center Building of the ITB Campus, was delivered directly by PLN's President Director, Mr. Dahlan Iskan.
The lecture, which was attended by students from the Electrical Power Engineering Study Program, explained the programs that will be carried out by PLN in order to deal with electricity conditions.
The programs are:
1. Overcoming the electricity crisis
2. Free from rolling blackouts and daily movement of one million customers
3. Increase the electrification ratio in several provinces from 50% to 70%
4. Launching special electricity for islands, in the form of PLTS
5. Overhauling the peaker system, namely by using PLTG + Storage in the context of energy conversion at PLN.
6. Increase efficiency by using solar cell energy, geothermal, by utilizing small gas-fired power plants and increasing coal calories.
7. In 2011, PLN will procure spare parts because it has been proven to save up to Rp. 2 trillion per year.
The former CEO of Jawa Pos also explained that PLN is a large organization, handling everything from development and mining transportation, storage and generation, transmission, and distribution, necessitating restructuring. Therefore, PLN desperately needs human resources who emphasize integrity and enthusiasm.
