Unnovation: Starting a Business with Innovation
Innovation is essential when starting a business. Recognizing the importance of developing innovation, the ITB Electrical Engineering Student Association (HME) held an event called Unnovation, which included a competition and a seminar. The seminar, held on Thursday (December 1, 2016) in ITB's East Hall, carried the theme "Innovation."How Will Tech-Startups Shape Our Future?The seminar was divided into two sessions, with the first session consisting of information presentations from speakers, followed by the announcement of the competition results.
The seminar began with a welcoming speech by the chairman of the Unnovation committee and Head of the ITB Electronic Engineering Study Program, Arif Sasongko, ST, M.Sc, Ph.D. "If only we could trigger action and start a startup", not just knowing it," said Hans Ega (Electrical Engineering 2013) as the committee chairman. Similar support can also be seen from the statement of the Head of the Study Program who said he was happy with the holding of an event like this because apart from the lecture bench, students can also learn from other things, such as holding a event.
The first session featured Aussie Haryono from The Boston Consulting Group Jakarta, who explained the importance of starting innovation early. There's no need to be afraid of innovation because failure is inevitable, as everyone has experienced failure. Leontinus Alpha Edison, COO of Tokopedia, also shared his real-life startup experience. Focus on customers, growth mindet. make it happen & make it better is a part that needs to be considered when wanting to innovate.
The session then continued with a discussion on how to identify business opportunities by Sukan Makmuri, CTO of KUDO. Building a new business requires identifying the target audience and business opportunities without changing habits.habit) of the intended target. This aspect of building a business was also reinforced by the CEO and Founder of Value Alignment Group, Riri Satria. He explained that building a business begins with breaking down An idea and the results will be better if you create something new. The seminar then concluded with the announcement of the winners of the Tech-Innovation Challenge and Tech-Development Challenge competitions, also part of the Unnovation series of events.
