STEI ITB Robotics Team Wins First Place at FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2015
The STEI ITB Robotics Team won an award at the FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2015 International Soccer Robot Contest held in South Korea last week. They defeated other teams from around the world, winning the HuroCup-United Soccer category.

FIRA RoboWorld Cup is a robot competition humanoid The annual event organized by the Federation of International Robot-Soccer Associations (FIRA) is themed around Olympic robots. This year, the 20th FIRA RoboWorld Cup was held at the Daejeon Convention Center, Daejeon Metropolitan City, South Korea, from August 4 to 9, 2015.
The FIRA RoboWorld Cup began in 1995, and the first international championship was held in the same city as this year: Daejeon, South Korea. Subsequent FIRA RoboWorld Cup competitions were held in several countries, including England, India, South Korea, China, the United States, Germany, Singapore, Australia, France, Brazil, Malaysia, and China. The 2015 edition was held in Daejeon again, and the organizing committee has announced that the 2016 edition will be held in Iran.
In the FIRA roboWorld Cup 2015, there are seven competition categories that can be entered, namely: Micro-Robot Soccer Tournament (MiroSot), Simulated Robot Soccer Tournament (SimuroSot), Humanoid Robot Soccer Tournament (HuroCup), AmireSot, NaroSot, AndroSot and RoboSot. In general, in this competition, robots intelligently and independently play soccer without direct human control. Human involvement is only as a match referee and manager of the robot players. So this requires the ability of the team participants to create artificial intelligence for the robot to be able to complete its mission.
STEI ITB Robotics Team
The Dago Hoogeschool team from the Bandung Institute of Technology, funded by STEI ITB, won first place in the HuroCup-United Soccer category. This was a title they defended after the team's second-place finish in the same category the previous year. This achievement demonstrates that the Dago Hoogeschool ITB robot is highly capable of competing in this category and defeating teams from other participating countries.
In the HuroCup category, there are nine branches, namely, Penalty Kick, Obstacle Run, Sprint, Marathon, Lift and Carry, Weight Lifting, Basketball, Wall Climbing, Long Jump, and United Soccer.
In the HuroCup-United Soccer category, robots are programmed to play soccer over various obstacles on the field. The game isn't as simple as regular soccer, as the robots must avoid several obstacles on the playing field.
The 2015 FIRA ITB team consists of students from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, namely M. Aznan Firmansyah. B (Electrical Engineering 2012), Alinda Nur Fitriana (Electrical Engineering 2012), Desiana Dien Nurchalifah (Electrical Engineering 2013), Ahmad Zaki HT (Electrical Engineering 2013), Billie Naldo Herlambang (Electrical Engineering 2013), Dhimas Bintang Kusumawardhana (Electrical Engineering 2013), Muhammad Isnain (Electrical Engineering 2013), Miftahul Mahfudz (Informatics Engineering 2013), Rakhmatullah Yoga (Informatics Engineering 2012), Alyssa Diva Mustika (Electrical Power Engineering 2013). Apart from that, there are also several team members who come from other study programs, namely Alamsyah Setyo Nugroho (Mechanical Engineering 2012), Nurul Inayah BM (Ocean Engineering 2013), and Wahyu Trisvianto (Physics 2012).
