Indonesian Team Successfully Wins Two Awards at ABU Robocon 2015
The Indonesian team represented by two winning universities of the 2015 Indonesian Robot Contest, namely Team Indonesia-1 from the Bandung Institute of Technology and Team Indonesia-2 from the Batam State Polytechnic, has just competed in one of the international robot competitions, the Asia-pacific ABU Robot Contest 2015, or abbreviated as ABU ROBOCON 2015. This 2015 International event was held at the Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta on August 23, 2015, with the theme ROBOMINTON badminton robot games.
Competing with other countries around the world didn't faze the Indonesian team, as they managed to win two awards at this prestigious event. Team Indonesia-1, represented by the Dagominton Team from the Bandung Institute of Technology, secured the top spot. 2nd Runner Up and get awards Panasonic Award after showing their best performance in every match against teams from Russia, Mongolia, Korea and other countries. The Dagominton team consists of Restu Ikhsanul Fikri (MS FTMD 2011, Team Leader), Eko Budi Satrio (MS FTMD 2012), Agung Nuza Dwi Putra (EL STEI 2012), Rendy Wandarosanza (EL STEI 2012), Raga Adiguna (MS FTMD 2012) and Fanny Achmad Hindrarta (EL STEI 2012).
ABU Robocon
ABU (Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union) Robocon is an annual international robot competition participated by students from countries throughout the Asia-Pacific. This competition was first held in 2002 in Tokyo, Japan. The following year it was held in South Korea, Egypt, China, India, Vietnam, and other countries. In this 14th ABU Robocon, Indonesia was first trusted to host the organizer. ABU Robocon adopts a different theme every year. In 2015, ABU Robocon carried the theme of robominton, namely badminton playing robots, with reference to the real badminton rules plus a few adjustments. ABU Robocon 2015 was attended by 18 countries, namely Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Egypt, Pakistan, India, Iran, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Nepal, Russia and Indonesia. The first champion of ABU Robocon 2015 was won by Vietnam represented by Hung Yen University of Technology. Hong Kong, represented by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, took second place. Indonesia from the Bandung Institute of Technology and Thailand from Vongchavalitkul University took third place. Each country's representatives at the ABU Robocon competition were the winners of their respective national competitions.
In 2016, ABU will be held in Bangkok, Thailand with the theme "Chai-Yo" which is the application of the concept of renewable energy sources.
ITB ABU Robocon Team
The ABU Robocon ITB team is one of the teams that is part of the ITB Robotics Unit. This year's ABU Robocon ITB team is named Dagominton, in accordance with the theme of the robot that was competed this year, namely robominton. In its journey for almost a year, Dagominton has made very brilliant achievements. Starting from the first place in the Regional Level ABU Indonesian Robot Contest (KRAI) and the first place in the National Level ABU Indonesian Robot Contest (KRAI), Dagominton has an undefeated record in every match it participated in until it won the Sambawana Pratimacala rotating trophy at the National Level KRI and represented Indonesia at the International Level ABU Robocon 2015. The Dagominton team is supported by dozens of students and alumni who worked together to build a robot that has the ability to play badminton.
Unit Robotika ITB
ITB Robotics Unit (URO ITB) is one of the student activity units that is open to all students who are members of the ITB student family. URO ITB has entered its seventh year since its founding in 2008. Considering that robots are closely related to advanced technology, this community has become one of the activity units that is highly sought after by students of the Bandung Institute of Technology. URO ITB has various activities such as participating in robot competitions, robot training/seminars, team building, social activities, technology discussions, and other positive activities. In 2015 URO ITB has prepared and sent six large teams to participate in robot competitions at regional, national, and international levels, namely KRI 2015 Regional and National Level, Komurindo 2015, Kombat 2015, FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2015 Korea, Micromaze Robot Contest 2015 Japan, ABU Robocon 2015. In each competition there are always awards that are won.
