Thingking Outside The Box

On Monday, September 3 2012, an alumnus of Informatics (IF) class of 1996, Reza Ferrydiansyah shared stories and experiences at the public lecture IF4093 Professional/Community Development A in the multimedia room, Labtek V Building (Benny Subianto) with the topic  thingking outside the box and school experience as well as his time working at Microsoft – America.

The speaker explained how a software developer must be able to think outside the box, from idea to implementation, identifying problems and formulating them so they can be solved using informatics techniques. One thing that can be emphasized is that with informatics solutions and unique solutions, many problems can be solved, and of course, with proactive action. So how do you get these ideas? First, look for connections between problems in different domains, ask "what if," don't criticize yourself, and write down the idea even if it's incomplete.

Reza, as he is familiarly called, shared about how software development at Microsoft itself is with the existence of a developer program manager and test in it, so that each has a continuous task of code evolution: design –> code –> testing –> submission. In addition, he also provided information on work opportunities at Microsoft, which can be started by taking the time to create something useful in visible fields: social, collaboration, natural, user interface, environment, health, education, cloud.
