Telkomsel & ITB Launch AI Innovation Hub to Strengthen Academic–Industry Collaboration

 Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), in collaboration with Telkomsel, officially launched the AI Innovation Hub as a collaborative space for artificial intelligence (AI) development that integrates academic research with industry needs. The inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, at the IPTEK Auditorium, CC Timur Building, ITB Ganesha Campus, and was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia . . . .

The launch of the AI Innovation Hub is a follow-up to a prior cooperation agreement established during the Indonesia Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) 2025 in August. This initiative marks a concrete step in strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and industry to advance the national AI innovation ecosystem. . .

Located on the 4th floor of the Labtek VIII Building, School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB, the AI Innovation Hub is the first AI innovation center initiated by Telkomsel and is envisioned as a model for the development of similar hubs across Indonesia. Its presence within SEEI ITB is expected to drive the development of applied research while expanding the utilization of AI technologies across various industry sectors. . .

The Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, highlighted the AI Innovation Hub as a strategic initiative to strengthen national digital human resource capacity. Synergy between academia and industry is considered crucial in preparing talent that can adapt to the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies. . .

Meanwhile, Telkomsel President Director Nugroho stated that the development of the AI Innovation Hub is part of Telkomsel’s commitment to promoting sustainable digital technology utilization. Through this collaborative space, Telkomsel opens broader opportunities for cooperation among academics, industry players, and the technology community to produce AI-based solutions that address real-world needs. . .

From the academic perspective, ITB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., expressed ITB’s strong support for the establishment of the AI Innovation Hub as a means to strengthen research and innovation. The facility is expected to serve as a bridge between the development of scientific knowledge on campus and its application in society and industry. . .

. The AI Innovation Hub is jointly managed by Telkomsel, ITB, and KODE by Hacktiv8, and is open to the public in accordance with campus operating hours. Facilities and programs available at the hub include:

  1. Learning Management System (LMS)

An online AI learning platform offering structured materials for various skill levels, complete with interactive modules, assessments, and certification for participants who complete the training programs.

  1. AI Solutions Showcase

An exhibition area featuring AI solutions from research laboratories, learning program participants, startups, and industry-level AI implementations.

  1. AI Hub Monthly Event

A series of regular monthly activities including thematic discussions, webinars, innovation competitions, and networking forums that bring together academics, practitioners, and industry stakeholders.

  1. AI Labs

Laboratory facilities supporting AI research and development activities, equipped with computational resources and expert mentorship in AI and data science.

Through the establishment of the AI Innovation Hub at SEEI ITB, the collaboration between Telkomsel and ITB is expected to strengthen the role of higher education in advancing AI technologies and contribute to accelerating national digital transformation. . . . .
