QS World Ranking: STEI Among the World's Top 500 Universities

It is undeniable that ITB's presence as one of Indonesia's universities actively participating in efforts to educate the nation is increasingly felt. This is evident in the growing number of academic fields available at ITB and the increasing number of prospective students choosing ITB as a place to study. In line with this perception, several international survey institutions have praised the quality of ITB's education on the international stage, including the results of a 2016 survey released by the website Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking(http://www.topuniversities.com).

According to data released on Tuesday (March 22, 2016), ITB ranked among the top three elite fields of study in the world. The top positions were achieved by the fields of study Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, ITB is ranked 201-300. Furthermore, in the field of Electrical Engineering and Electronics ITB is ranked 252nd in the field ofComputer Science & Information Systems are ranked 401-450. These three fields are specifically achieved through the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) and the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) at ITB. This ranking is based on assessments by global academics, alumni users, and the impact of research conducted by institutions in the 42 fields of study.

"At the age of 57, ITB continues to strive to enter the top 500 educational institutions in the world. This achievement is in line with the target set by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education for an Indonesian university to enter the top 500 universities in the world," said Dr. Miming Miharja as the Vice Rector for General Administration, Alumni and Communication of ITB. In addition, Dr. Miming added that this is inseparable from alumni who contribute achievements based on user assessments. "ITB at the 2015/2016 Graduation II will graduate 88 doctors, 769 masters and 593 bachelors. The release of new ITB alumni is intended to be able to contribute again to ITB's achievements," added Dr. Miming.

Previously in 2015, ITB had achieved proud results in the world university rankings issued by QS World University RankingThis is because ITB is ranked 51-100 in the world in the field of Art and Design. This ranking makes ITB among the eight best universities in Asia and the best among Islamic countries in the field of Art and Design. In 2015, in the Asian rankings, ITB was ranked 35th in Engineering and Technology, 44th in Life Sciences and Medicine, and 50th in Natural Sciences and Social Sciences and Management.

This time, as a birthday gift from QS World University RankingITB managed to rank 431st from its previous position of 461st at the world level. Meanwhile in Asia, ITB's position also rose to 122nd from the previous year's position of 125th. This achievement is the result of the hard work of the ITB academic community who consistently continues to produce the latest research. Through its research centers, ITB has conducted various innovative research, ranging from the fields of Renewable Energy, Information and Communication Technology, Urban Planning and Infrastructure, Creative Industries/Cultural and Environmental Products, to the fields of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Of course, the results of this survey are one of the parameters of the extent to which ITB's vision to become a superior, dignified, independent, and globally recognized university and guide changes that can improve the welfare of the Indonesian nation and the world.
