Public Lecture Dr. Taufik Hasan: NGN & Future Network

Dr. Taufik Hasan from Mastel (Indonesian Telecommunication Society), gave a public lecture to students participating in the IF 4092 course in R. 7602 on Friday, February 24, 2012. The topic he discussed in this public lecture was the Next Generation Network (NGN) & Future Network.

This 1976 graduate of ITB Electrical Engineering majoring in telecommunications engineering explained the global ICT trends in the future which are heading towards social networking, ubiquitous communication, data explosion etc. In the world of telecommunications it is leading to convergence with multiple capabilities namely the integration of several media into one with various capabilities. Not only the technology that will be trending in the future is discussed but the concept of future telecommunications services and networks is also explained in this public lecture, namely the development of information types (data, multimedia, etc.), the development of service types (information exchange, transactions, etc.), network intelligence, service providers, service management. This technological change can be seen in the shift from manual to automatic, analog to digital, digital to packet, while for services, operators, central as a simple service, centralization. For telecommunications networks themselves, it can be seen in the shift from UB to CB and from analog to digital. What needs to be noted are several major technological changes, namely:
