ITBPC 2013: National Programming Competition with International Standard
Bandung Institute of Technology once again successfully held a national programming competition on Saturday and Sunday (February 16-17, 2013), the Bandung Institute of Technology Programming Contest. This programming competition has been held since last January and the final round was held in February. The final round of ITBPC was attended by thirty-four teams from universities and thirty-one SMP/SMA students from all over Indonesia.
The main theme of this year's competition is “Code The World Be Professional”. This theme was chosen with the aim of making this programming competition one way to increase the level of programming competition in Indonesia, so that it can be a strong provision for prospective Indonesian representatives in international competitions. In addition, this competition also aims to provide provisions and introduce participants to the professional world. By holding this competition, it is hoped that students and university students in Indonesia will be motivated to explore and develop the field of programming further.
This annual competition, held by the undergraduate informatics engineering program, is divided into two categories: junior and senior. The junior category is open to pre-university students, such as students from SMA, SMP, and SD. The senior category is open to teams of up to three students from universities across Indonesia.
Sunday (February 17, 2013) marked the culmination of the ITBPC event. The junior finals ran from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event concluded with a talk show with sponsors and the presentation of prizes and awards to the winners. The closing ceremony took place in the East CC Auditorium.
The winners for the junior category were Nathan Azaria (SMAN 2 Purwokerto) who won the gold medal, Jonathan Irvin Gunawan (SMAK 1 BPK Penabur Bandung) and Stefano Chiesa (SMAK 3 BPK Penabur) as silver medalists, Ammar Fathin (SMAN Sragen Bilingual Boarding School) and Joshua Aristo (SMA Xaverius 1 Palembang) as bronze medalists. Meanwhile for the senior category, the +1 Saklar Lhompat team from the University of Indonesia won first place, the Pandawa team from Bina Nusantara University, and the Mizafy team from ITB.
The difficulty level and scoring in this competition are of course differentiated according to predetermined categories. The junior category's scoring system follows the scoring system used in the international programming competition, the International Olympiad of Informatics (IOI). This system uses the same rules. subtask And token. Each case given will have subtask which if done correctly will give certain points. Participants are also given the opportunity to test the results compile-as a whole, or what's called a token. Meanwhile, for the senior category, only questions that are answered perfectly will be given a mark.
“We decided to use an international assessment system so that participants, such as students of SMP/SMA, have the provisions and experience to compete in the international arena, for example in IOI later. Meanwhile, we hope that students can get used to problems that use approaches such as problems in the professional world, ” said Martha (Informatics Engineering 2010) as the ITBPC committee.
