BlackBerry Partners with STEI ITB to Provide Scholarships
The BlackBerry Innovation Center (BBIC) at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) is a research and innovation center in the field of mobile computing sponsored by BlackBerry.
Currently, BBIC is conducting several researches on Mobile Computing for Smart Society which includes Smart Healthcare, Smart Transportation, Smart Energy, Smart Learning, Smart Payment, and other topics that are constantly evolving.
This year, BBIC is again accepting 12 Master's students (S2) and 6 Doctoral students (S3) to conduct research on “mobile computing for smart society”. Accepted students will receive scholarships that include:
1. Education Administration Fees (BPP) at ITB for a maximum of 2 (two) years for the Masters program and 3 (three) years for the Doctoral program,
2. Research incentives of Rp. 3 million for S2 students and Rp. 4 million for S3 students. Furthermore, during the research period at BBIC, research support equipment, including a PC and a BlackBerry smartphone, are also provided.
General requirements:
1. Take and pass the entrance exam for the Master of Informatics Program in Information Technology Option (for the Master's program) or the Doctoral Program in Electrical Engineering and Informatics (for the Doctoral program) at the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Information on the registration procedures for the doctoral and master's program entrance exams can be found at http://www.sps.itb.ac.id/.
2. Have strong motivation in conducting research, mobile application development and entrepreneurship.
3. Willing to work independently full-time every weekday at BBIC.
4. Able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, both in Indonesian and English.
Serious applicants can send their application letter to Dr.IGB Baskara Nugraha via email baskara@stei.itb.ac.id, attaching a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a short research proposal (1-2 pages), no later than March 30, 2013.
Qualified candidates will be invited for an interview in mid-April 2013. Scholarship recipients will be announced after the results of the Masters and Doctoral program selection are announced by ITB.
