Presentation of IF and STI Study Program Students at the Mayor's Office

On the afternoon of May 26, 2014, the Bandung Mayor's Office on Jalan Wastukencana was visited by a number of students and lecturers from STEI ITB. They were Aldy Wirawan, Dikra Prasetya Fathan, Setyo Legowo, Habibie Faried, Taufik, Ikhsan, Reno Rasyad, David Nugraha, from the Informatics Engineering Study Program of STEI ITB, and Fady from the Information Systems and Technology Study Program of ITB. Their arrival was accompanied by Dr. Ayu Purwarianti and Dr. Wikan Danar Sunindyo from the Informatics Engineering Study Program of STEI ITB.

The students' purpose in visiting was to present a number of application products designed to meet the needs of Bandung City. This was part of their Information Systems and Software Development coursework, which they completed throughout the second semester of the 2013/2014 academic year.

The applications presented and demonstrated are the Park Information System, the Executive Personnel Information System, Bandung Q&A, and the Regional Asset Executive Information System. The Park Information System is useful for managing information and utilizing parks in Bandung City, which are currently thematic and spread throughout Bandung. SIXPEG or the Executive Personnel Information System is useful for managing personnel information and providing support to the Mayor and Heads of Regional Government Agencies (SKPD) to be able to access personnel information quickly. Bandung Q&A is a facility that is useful as a question and answer forum involving the community and agencies in Bandung City regarding matters related to Bandung City information that can also be used as information for tourists visiting Bandung, for example regarding culinary, shopping places, tourist attractions, ongoing events, and others. The Regional Asset Executive Information System is useful for managing Bandung City asset data, which is currently spread everywhere and requires more intensive and organized handling.

In addition to the presentation of the lecture assignment, the results of the Open Data for Development Workshop held by the Software and Data Engineering Research Group (KK RPLD) on May 20, 2014 were also presented. It is hoped that the Bandung City government can also take advantage of the existing events and opportunities and participate in the Open Data movement and support the availability of data to the public.

On that occasion, the Mayor of Bandung, Mr. Ir. M. Ridwan Kamil, MUD, enthusiastically welcomed the application products produced by the students and instructed the relevant agencies to immediately use these applications in their daily official activities in the city of Bandung. In the future, the Bandung City government will need at least 120 software applications to support the activities of 30 SKPD (Regional Work Units) in the city of Bandung. These applications will later be used as fillers executive dashboard . operation room which is currently under construction and expected to be completed by the end of the year. Regarding the open data initiative, the Mayor also supports the provision of data such as regional budgets and social assistance grants for public access.
