SEEI ITB Students Achieve International Recognition at the UNESCO Youth Hackathon 2025
Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – An Indonesian student team consisting of students from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB and the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) ITB achieved outstanding success at the UNESCO Youth Hackathon 2025. This global innovation competition encourages young people worldwide to create digital solutions that combat misinformation and promote responsible media use, as part of the Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week celebration. . .
For 2025, the competition adopted the theme “Minds Over AI,” highlighting the challenges of misinformation in the era of artificial intelligence. Out of 1,286 proposals submitted by participants from 138 countries, the Indonesian team succeeded in placing among the winners thanks to their creative and inclusive approach to Media and Information Literacy (MIL)...
The Indonesian team, competing under the name MIL Point, consists of Jonathan Emmanuel Saragih (Informatics Engineering ‘22), Guntur Oktavianto Nugroho (Information Systems and Technology ‘22), Wynneth Artdelyn Jees (Interior Design ‘22), Vinnidhiaty Gradelyn Jees (Visual Communication Design ‘18), and Jesseline Carolee Sabas (Interior Design ‘22). Throughout the two-week hackathon, they conducted research, developed concepts, built prototypes, and produced the project presentation video. ..

The strength of MIL Point lies in its “low effort – high impact” concept, combining gamification, interactive offline activities through the MIL Box, and a digital application to create an engaging and accessible learning ecosystem. This approach not only enhances critical thinking skills but also promotes responsible online behavior across diverse communities...
The award ceremony and final presentation took place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, on 23–24 October 2025. The MIL Point team expressed their pride in UNESCO’s recognition of their creative solution. According to them, this opportunity serves not only as a personal achievement but also as validation that innovations from Indonesia’s young generation can contribute globally in addressing misinformation challenges in the AI era. ..
