The Hooge School Team Successfully Develops a Humanoid Football Robot

BANDUNG, LK – Baldar, Daritem, and Albasari are three humanoid robots created by students from the Hooge School Team at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). They are capable of playing soccer. These humanoid robots won third place in the Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) Regional Level 2, held from May 10-12, 2018, at Tarumanegara University in Jakarta.

The head of the Hooge School team, Ahmad Habbie Thias, explained that humanoid robots are robots with human-like physiques. In the Indonesian Football Robot Counter (KRSBI) Humanoid category, the three robots were challenged to play the ball, kick it into the opponent's goal, and possess the ability to...mage processing.

"The robot must be able to distinguish between opponents, the position of the ball, the goal, and must be able to employ certain strategies to win a soccer game," he explained.

He admitted that in KRI 2018, there was a new regulation that somewhat overwhelmed his team. The robot's position on the field had to be... auto positioning, The robot must be able to position itself when entering the field. According to the man known as Habbie, another challenge was his team having to understand the existing robot program. The team used the previous year's robot, which was then developed in 2018.

"So, you could say that physically, this robot is quite old. Therefore, the mechanics and systems must also be adjusted to the capabilities of the robot's frame. Furthermore, we only have three robots, while other teams have five, so there are minimal backups," he concluded.
