Summer School on Renewable Energy Systems 2025 Discusses Energy Transition and Renewable Energy

Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – The Summer School on Renewable Energy Systems 2025 was officially opened on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the ITB Ganesha Campus. This program serves as an academic platform for students and researchers from various countries to deepen their knowledge of sustainable power systems and renewable energy development.

The opening ceremony was held in the Labtek VIII Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, and began with remarks from the Vice Dean for Resources of SEEI ITB. In his remarks, appreciation was expressed for the collaboration between academia, industry, and international institutions in supporting efforts toward the energy transition to cleaner and more sustainable systems.

The series of academic sessions began with an opening lecture by Prof. Dr. Ir. Suwarno, M.T., who discussed “Sustainable Power Systems and the Contribution of Renewable Energy Sources.” The next session was delivered by Dr. Ir. Fathin Saifur Rahman, S.T., M.T., who explained “Challenges in Power Systems with a High Share of Renewable Energy.”

After the lunch break, the program continued with a lecture by Prof. Ir. Ari Darmawan Pasek, Ph.D., who presented “Renewable Energy Development in Indonesia: Progress, Challenges, and Opportunities.” Through this session, participants gained a comprehensive overview of policies, technological advancements, and the potential implementation of clean energy across various sectors.

The first day of lectures concluded with a session by Daniel Tampubolon from PT PLN (Persero), who delivered a presentation entitled “PLN’s Strategy in the Energy Transition and Increasing the Contribution of Renewable Energy to Support the Net Zero Emission Target.” This material provided a practical perspective on the concrete steps taken by Indonesia’s electricity industry to expand the use of green energy. The first day’s activities concluded with an informal networking session, providing participants with the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas. ..

The opening day of the Summer School on Renewable Energy Systems 2025 marked the beginning of a series of academic activities, field visits, and thematic discussions that will continue until early November. Following the opening session at ITB, participants will proceed with field visits to the Cirata Floating PV Power Plant and the Cirata Hydropower Plant to study the direct application of renewable energy technologies in the field. The program will then continue in Bali, where participants will take part in various advanced academic sessions, including discussions, workshops, and international conferences addressing the development and integration of renewable energy in modern power systems.

This program is expected to serve as a space for learning, knowledge exchange, and cross-country collaboration in the fields of renewable energy and sustainable power systems.
