STEI as Host of ICEEI 2011
International Conference on Electrical Engineering 2011 is a scientific meeting that is routinely held every 2 years and this year has entered its 3rd year. This year it was held again at ITB and STEI is proud to be the host for this prestigious international scale event, after previously being successfully held in Selangor, Malaysia (2009) and Bandung, Indonesia (2007). The event which lasted for 3 days, 17 - 19 July 2011 at ITB included discussions on methods, technologies, and applications related to Electrical Engineering and Informatics where researchers, academics, and practitioners made this event a forum to show the results of research that they have done and become a basis for building and developing cooperative relationships among the participants.
The event organized by the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics – Bandung Institute of Technology, (STEI ITB) Indonesia, Faculty of Technology and Information Science – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, (FTSM UKM) Malaysia and supported by IEEE, carrying the theme “Towards Converging Technologies” has succeeded in attracting many researchers from various countries to submit their papers. It was recorded that 590 papers were submitted with authors from 33 countries across continents. However, after going through a review process by 2 external reviewers and the committee, only 350 regular papers from 21 countries were accepted for presentation which were divided into 63 sessions.
In addition to the regular presentations, there were at least 5 keynote speakers who appeared at ICEEI 2011 in turns after the conference was officially opened by the ITB Rector, namely the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Dr. Wawan Gunawan A. Kadir, MS. The five keynote speakers were:
- Prof. G. C. Montanary (University of Bologna, Italy)
- Prof. A. R. Hamdan (UKM, Malaysia)
- Prof. Bambang R. (ITB, Indonesia)
- Prof. M. Hikita (Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan)
- Prof. Iping Supriana (ITB, Indonesia)
The opening keynote was delivered by the Dean of STEI ITB and Session Chair, Prof. Suwarno. This keynote speaker was also broadcast live streaming from the West Hall through the official ICEEI 2011 website and the STEI website. With many presentation sessions and poster sessions spread across several locations on the ITB campus, it showed the enthusiasm of the participants at this conference.
"Ultimately, what is expected is that all participants who attend this conference, in addition to getting a satisfying experience, also gain benefits from this meeting," said Ir. Arief Syaichu Rochman M.Sc, Ph.D as the General Chair of ICEEI 2011.
