STEI becomes the Winner in the Business Plan Competition 2011

Ya Who says STEI students are only smart and skilled in the world of informatics, electrical engineering, or telecommunications? Besides their expertise in their respective fields, STEI students have also proven their success in other fields, including business and business opportunities. This is evidenced by several students from the Informatics Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering study programs who participated in the Business Plan Competition in Jakarta.

This Business Plan Competition is organized by MBA ITB Jakarta and in collaboration with CIEL, called EntrepreneurStar 2011, aims to invite entrepreneurs, undergraduate students to develop and present their business ideas to real investors and get feedback in a professional manner.

This is proven by the students who will graduate this coming week and are members of the Buzzle Team, namely Mikael Aditya Chandra (13207055), David Soendoro (13507086) and Matthew Wangsadiredja (13507012), who have succeeded in becoming the first winners in this competition with their business idea about Social Networking Applications.

The judges assessed that the strength of the business idea lies in its marketing, operational, and financial strategies, and that it is crucial to have a clear understanding of the target market their competitors are targeting. The judges for this Business Plan Competition were Isti Raafaldini, Bob Situmorang, and Zoel Hutabarat (CIEL), Violison Martheo (Director of Wintec), and Jeremy Thomas (Principal of VMT Creative & JTR Network).

Congratulations to the Buzzle team for winning this competition. STEI is very proud to have students like this team, as they not only excel in other fields but also excel academically, earning cum laude honors at their July 2011 graduation. Hopefully, this will inspire other students and students in general. (diy)
