SEEI ITB Receives a Visit from Toyota Motor Corporation in an Effort to Collaborate on the Development of Software-Defined Cars
Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id — The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SEEI ITB), received a visit from a delegation of Toyota Motor Corporation, attended by Toshihiro Izumi – Executive Vice President, along with representatives from Toyota Motor Asia and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN). The visit took place on 1 July 2025 as part of collaborative efforts between SEEI ITB and Toyota Motor Corporation in the field of research and development of Software-Defined Cars (SDC). ..
The visit from Toyota Motor Corporation was received directly by the Dean of SEEI ITB, together with several lecturers and researchers from various related laboratories. On this occasion, Toyota visited several key laboratories within SEEI ITB that possess capabilities in the development of intelligent automotive systems, including the Computer Engineering Laboratory, the Signal and Systems Laboratory, and the Control and Computer Systems Laboratory. .
The discussions were conducted interactively, addressing various potential collaborations. The Toyota delegation expressed appreciation for the quality of research at SEEI ITB, which was considered to have strong capabilities in supporting the development of software-based automotive technologies.
As part of the agenda, the visit concluded with a live demonstration and test drive of ITB’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) vehicle. The vehicle is part of an ongoing research platform developed to test various intelligent driving features, such as lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and obstacle avoidance. . .
This activity marked an important momentum in fostering collaboration between higher education institutions and the global automotive industry. The explored cooperation is expected to strengthen synergy in research and innovation of software-based vehicle technologies, as well as to support the development of an intelligent mobility ecosystem in Indonesia and Asia.
