SEEI ITB Once Again Hosts the AOTULE 2024 Graduate Summer Program with the Theme “Engineering for Sustainability”

Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) was once again entrusted to host the The Asia-Oceania Top University League on Engineering (AOTULE) Graduate Summer Program 2024. Held on 6–8 November 2024, the program carried the theme “Engineering for Sustainability” and involved participation from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB along with several other faculties. . . . .

The program opened with welcoming remarks from ITB’s Vice Rector, Prof. Jaka Sembiring, who emphasized the importance of inter-university collaboration in addressing global sustainability challenges. Following the opening, participating students took part in practical workshops, including a visit to the Dago Bengkok Hydropower Plant to learn about renewable energy technologies, as well as a visit to ITB’s waste processing facility to understand best practices in sustainable waste management. . .

Meanwhile, representatives and deans from AOTULE member universities held discussions to present their respective institutional profiles and explore potential collaborative research opportunities. These discussions focused on concrete steps to strengthen cooperation in engineering and sustainability. Afterward, the deans continued with a campus tour, visiting the Geomechanics and Mining Equipment Laboratory and the ITB Research Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. These visits provided direct insights into ITB’s flagship research facilities that support the development of advanced and environmentally friendly technologies. . .

The program agenda also included a Steering Committee Meeting on the second day. The meeting discussed the outcomes of the AOTULE 2023 conference, expressions of interest to host AOTULE 2025, as well as the selection process and planning for future projects. Program participants also took this opportunity to present their innovative ideas in the form of sustainability solutions specifically designed for the City of Bandung, covering various aspects such as energy, transportation, and waste management. . .

As part of introducing local culture, participants were invited to enjoy a traditional arts performance at Saung Angklung Udjo. The performance offered insights into Indonesia’s cultural richness and served as a memorable closing for the session.

On the final day, participants were invited to enjoy the natural beauty of West Java by visiting Kawah Putih and the tea plantations in Ciwidey. This activity not only provided a recreational experience but also an opportunity to strengthen relationships among participants from various countries.

The AOTULE 2024 Graduate Summer Program once again reaffirmed ITB’s role as a leading engineering education hub in the Asia-Oceania region. The program stands as clear evidence of how international and interdisciplinary collaboration can generate innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.
