STEI ITB Active in FGD: Embracing Technology Innovation and Digital Services Through a Sandboxing Framework
Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has become one of the main participants in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) bertajuk "Facilitating the Development of Innovative Digital Technologies and Services Through a Sandboxing Framework in the Digital Communications (ICT) Sector" which took place on August 11, 2023 at the Park Hyatt Hotel Jakarta.
This FGD was initiated by the Directorate General of Postal and Information Technology Resources, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo), with the aim of encouraging innovation in digital technology and services through the implementation of a sandboxing and experimentation framework. This framework is expected to serve as a vehicle for developing innovative digital technologies and services, with a focus on the Digital Communications (ICT) sector.
Representatives from STEI ITB who participated in this FGD were Ir. Adi Indrayanto, M.Sc, Ph.D., and Nur Ahmadi, ST, M.Eng., Ph.D., both bring their knowledge and experience in electrical engineering, informatics, and technological innovation. In the discussion, they shared their views on the application of the sandboxing framework in digital technology development and the various benefits this approach can bring.
One of the main objectives of this FGD is to answer the main question: “How to encourage the implementation of sandboxing and experimentation frameworks to produce innovative digital technologies and services?” The interactive and productive discussion yielded a deeper understanding of the sandboxing framework's potential to create a safe experimental space for the development of new digital technologies. Participants, including STEI ITB, agreed that this framework would benefit innovators from a supportive environment and clear regulations.
It is hoped that the results of this FGD will provide valuable input for stakeholders, including the government, universities, and industry, to collaborate in formulating strategic steps towards the development of innovative digital technology and services in Indonesia. Collaboration between STEI ITB and other stakeholders is expected to accelerate the growth of the Digital Communications (ICT) sector and drive broader digital transformation in the country.
