"Ngarendos" Won Double Awards in the 2014-2015 Digital Creative Indonesia Competition (DCI). Telkomsel

Digital Creative Indonesia (DCI) is an annual competition held by Telkomsel with the theme "Most Indonesian." This year, 2014, marks Telkomsel's second year holding the DCI competition. DCI generally consists of three competitions: Most Indonesian Article, Most Indonesian Video, and Most Indonesian Mobile App.
The competition we (Bakorteam – Rizal Panji Islami and Okharyadi Saputra, Informatics Engineering 2010) participated in was the Most Indonesian Mobile Application competition. In this competition, participants were required to produce a mobile application (with Android, IOS, Windows Phone or BlackBerry platforms) with the condition that the application must carry the theme "Most Indonesian". There are several application categories that participants can create, such as culinary, tourism, history, and various other Indonesian-themed categories.

The selection mechanism begins with the submission of a proposal accompanied by mock up Applications. The competition committee, specifically Telkomsel, requires several key elements in the submitted proposals. Applications submitted to the competition are expected to solve specific problems or serve as a means of preserving Indonesian culture, and must also possess a unique value. value commercial. This is because this competition is also a selection conducted by Telkomsel to filter developer-developer Indonesian youth to be acquired under the TemanDev program, Telkomsel's latest initiative to support the development of unique Indonesian applications through special collaboration contracts. Therefore, it is hoped that the participating applications will have economic value and prospects for further development.
Following the proposal selection process, 15 participants or teams were selected to present their applications to a panel of judges. In their presentations, participants were required to demonstrate background and the benefits of the applications they develop, as well as to present how these applications can be further commercialized. Furthermore, the top five participants will be selected to receive awards from Telkomsel, along with special engagement in the form of a special cooperation contract with Telkomsel regarding the application being developed. In this competition, we are presenting an application called Ngarendos, a social networking application for sharing traditional Indonesian recipes. In this application, users can share traditional Indonesian recipes with each other or search for various traditional recipes in a unique way. The advantages of this application are its interactive form and unique packaging. In this application, users can find the recipes they need using various search methods. Users can browse and search for recipes by recipe name and region of origin. In addition, users can also find recipes that suit their taste preferences, such as recipes with spicy and savory flavors and so on. Ngarendos application users can also enter the food ingredients they have at home, then the application will automatically provide suggestions for traditional Indonesian recipes that can be made using those ingredients. The application's interaction is also designed to facilitate users, the majority of whom are housewives. Other features of this application include a feature for interacting and exchanging cooking tips, a feature for getting help with cooking, and an automatic shopping cart feature.
This Ngarendos application gets double award in the DCI competition, namely as the Most Indonesian Mobile Application and also the Most Favorite Indonesian Mobile Application.
