Menko Perekonomian RI Resmikan ITB – Indosat Innovation Lab (STEI)
Bandung Institute of Technology in collaboration with PT Indosat Tbk inaugurated the ITB Innovation Lab – School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) ITB on Friday (2/12/11). Held at the 4th floor of the Achmad Bakrie Building, the inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chancellor of ITB, the Dean of STEI ITB, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and the President Director of PT Indosat Tbk.
The collaboration to establish an innovation lab aims to encourage the creativity of the younger generation in developing telecommunications technology applications. The Innovation Lab provides a platform for young application developers and innovators to experiment, discuss, create, and develop applications based on various telecommunications device systems available in the community.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, in his remarks, stated that ITB, as a center of excellence in Indonesia, must be able to produce graduates who can contribute ideas and innovations for the nation's development. "Invention can only be born from a knowledge society like ITB. A knowledge society can only be created if there is a learning community," Hatta said.
Innovation Lab 2 - Collaboration with ITB, including the ITB Innovation Lab - supported by Indosat, we hope can increase Indonesia's competitiveness in the field of telecommunications technology, through positive collaboration between the academic world and the industrial world. This can encourage the development of various new applications and innovations that benefit from Indosat's passion for Indonesia, - said Indosat President Director Harry Sasongko.
This telecommunications device application development and innovation center is equipped with various facilities to support research activities, including tablet devices, desktop computers, application research laboratories, and a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network supported by Indosat and other partners.

ITB Innovation Lab – supported by Indosat is part of the Tablet and Application Research Program, which is also supported by various partners such as ZTE, RIM, Nokia Siemens Network, Creatary, and Alcatel Lucent. With the existence of this mobile device and application innovation center, it is hoped that it will provide significant benefits to the development of Indonesian telecommunications technology, especially in the development of mobile content.
