Electrical Engineering Students Win at SGM 3 2012

SGM (Scientific Great Moment) 3 is an event held every year by Agritech Research and Study Club Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Brawijaya University, Malang. This event is a scientific parade containing various agendas such as a national seminar, product expo, student-level creative work competition and national high school poster competition. The event lasted for 2 days from March 15-18, 2012, filled with a national seminar with the theme of local wisdom and writepreneurship, then the SGM 3 creative work competition and the SGM 3 poster design competition which had been running from January 2012 to March 2012 where the announcement of the competition winners was announced.

This year's SGM 3rd creative work competition took the theme of Innovation of Local Resources with International Competitiveness and one of the Electrical Engineering students, Arief Kurnia Miharja (13211605) succeeded in becoming the 1st winner in the competition with his work. Synthesis of Calixarene from Cinnamon Oil as a Binder for Hazardous Heavy Metals in WaterThe biggest motivation in participating in this competition is to bring the name of ITB and the enormous potential of Indonesia's local resources, especially in the Bandung area. "Through this competition, I can help promote the excellence of the Indonesian nation that can potentially increase the nation's competitiveness at the international level, raise student awareness to build national independence. And all of that I put into my research paper about Indonesia's local resources that have great potential in processing waste containing hazardous heavy metals in the water."
