Visit of Professor Kenji Shiraishi from the University of Tsukuba to ITB
“The CMOS technology scaling is facing it end at 2020. The future technology beyond CMOS is a science driven technology."That was one of the core messages delivered at the public lecture by Professor Kenji Shiraishi from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, on Thursday, May 3, 2012. Held in the Multimedia Room of the Benny Subianto Building (Labtek V), the public lecture was given by Professor Shiraishi, who is also a IEEE-Electron Device Society Distinguished Lecturer It was an interesting experience. More than 30 ITB lecturers, researchers, and students from several departments appeared to be seriously following the presentation entitled "Importance of Basic Science toward Future Nano Device..
This public lecture activity is part of a visit to ITB by Professor Kenji Shiraishi who is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science, University of Tsukuba, accompanied by Dr. Yano Tomosaburo, JICA advisor to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. This visit aimed to explore collaboration between ITB and the University of Tsukuba. In addition to giving a public lecture, Professor Shiraishi and Dr. Yano also held meetings and discussions with the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics and several teaching staff from the Electronics Research Group. The result was an agreement to establish cooperation in the field of education and research between the two universities and an MoU is currently being prepared to strengthen this cooperation in the future.
The group also made short visits to several locations, including the IC Device and Processing Laboratory, the VLSI Laboratory (Both at the ITB Microelectronics PAU), the Advanced Material Processing in the Department of Engineering Physics, and also to the ITB Central Library.
