Electronic Public Lecture & Online Payment
Along with the start of Semester 1 lectures of the 2012/2013 academic year, the Electrical Engineering Study Program, especially for the course EL 4092 Engineering Ethics & Selected Chapters, on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, held a public lecture in the Meeting Room of STEI Labtek V, 2nd Floor for its students. The topic taken in this public lecture was very interesting, namely Electronic & Online Payment.
As we all know, technological developments in information and communication technology have led to the emergence of new innovations in almost every aspect of life, such as electronic payments. We're already familiar with and even frequently use electronic payments, such as debit cards and credit cards. So, what about e-money? Interesting, isn't it? The speaker at yesterday's public lecture, Mr. Anthoni Moris from PT. Artajasa, explained e-money.
E-money is the latest breakthrough in the world of online payments, making it practical for various payments (electricity, credit, etc.), and until now many people have switched to using e-money for payment transactions, therefore many issuers want to issue this e-money. There are two types of e-money issued: chip-based, which is usually used for small-value transactions, and the money is stored on one card. The mechanism is by transferring funds using a card reader so that one card can be used for various types of transactions. And the second type is the one that uses a server-based, where the money that can be used has been registered to the user's account, for example, email, cellphone number, etc. And for this type, PT. Artajasa has an e-money license from Bank Indonesia.
The function of e-money is for financial purposes such as purchases and payments, and for non-financial purposes such as ID cards, membership cards, etc. For both purposes, a combination is used. E-money applications can be implemented in government, healthcare, commerce, entertainment, and transportation. The advantages of using e-money are that it is safer, faster, easier, more transparent, and more reliable.
