First Solved Problem Winner: Dongskar Pedongi Team (ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals May 12-18, 2012 hosted by University of Warsaw, Poland)

Bandung Institute of Technology beat out more than 8000 teams from 2000 universities in 88 countries worldwide to become one of the 112 finalists present at the 36th ACM-ICPC World Finals held on May 14-18, 2012 in Warsaw, Poland.

Of the 112 competing teams, the four teams with the highest scores will receive gold medals, those ranked 5th-8th will receive silver medals, and those ranked 9th-12th will receive bronze medals. The team with the best score will also be awarded the 2012 ACM-ICPC World Champion.

In addition to awards for the team with the highest score, there are also special awards for participants who complete certain problems in the fastest time. There is one special award for each problem presented.

The final round took place on May 17, 2012. In this final round, participants were given 12 questions with varying levels of difficulty (Questions A–L). The scoring system used the number of questions completed (each worth 1 point) combined with the total time spent working.

After going through a 5-hour struggle in the race, The ITB team achieved the achievement of being the first finisher for Problem I, One of the most difficult questions of the 12 given, with a time limit of 88 minutes. This is quite impressive, as out of 112 competing teams, only 11 were able to complete it.

Overall, the ITB Team was ranked 36th (jointly) out of 112 participants from 85 countries who competed in the ACM-ICPC World Finals.

The Dongskar Pedongi team was able to complete 4 of the 12 questions in the competition, where the first place (Saint Petersburg University from Russia) managed to complete 9 questions.

Considering this is the Dongskar Pedongi team's first time competing in the ACM-ICPC World Finals, this result is quite impressive. We sincerely hope the team can achieve even better results next year.
