Imagine Cup 2013: Team STEI wins 2nd Place and Favorite Champion

Imagine Cup 2013 Indonesia, a competition to find talented young people in the technology field, has now entered its final round. Nine (9) finalists have qualified for the final round, and today they are competing for the top prize to represent Indonesia in the world finals.

Microsoft held the final round of the 2013 Imagine Cup Indonesia at Epicentrum Walk in Jakarta on Friday (April 12, 2013). Microsoft Indonesia President Director Andreas Diantoro expressed his pride in the innovative ideas developed by the participants. Furthermore, one of the finalists who made it to the final round was from a small town.

This year, Imagine Cup Indonesia successfully recruited 1,077 students, who were part of 299 teams. Of those 299, nine of the best teams successfully advanced through the selection process.

The ITB Informatics Engineering Team successfully won the Innovation Category, namely the Imagineer Team with the project "Vofuse".

Today's final round selection process used the same judging criteria as the world finals. For Games, the judging criteria were Fun (40%), Execution (30%), Innovation (20%), and Business Viability (10%). For the Innovation category, the judging criteria were Innovation (45%), Impact (30%), and Execution (25%). Meanwhile, for World Citizenship, the judging criteria were Impact (50%), Feasibility (30%), and Execution (20%).

From these three categories, the main winner of the 2013 Imagine Cup from Indonesia will be selected. The winner will represent Indonesia in the global competition to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, and will have a chance to win the Grand Prize of Rp 500 million.

Smokers Nanny Team

In addition to three winners in each category, one favorite team received a special prize of Rp 25 million from the Ministry of Cooperatives & SMEs: the Smokers Nanny team with their work, Matrix Phosporence, from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). The prize was awarded to support the development of startup Indonesia.

Imagine Cup is an annual competition starting in 2013 that invites students and pupils to create a technological work that can solve a particular problem and can be applied in everyday life.
