The Electrical Engineering Alumni Association (IEA) provides scholarships and assistance for the construction of an anechoic chamber.

As a form of concern of the ITB Electrical Engineering Alumni Association (IAE-ITB) towards students and facilities at the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI), on October 3, 2015, the IAE-ITB golf tournament was held with one of its missions being Golf for Charity. The realization of the charity activities at the event was carried out by handing over scholarships to 31 STEI students by the Chairman of IAE-ITB, Mr. Abdus Somad Arief, to the Deans of STEI, Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng.

Apart from scholarships, at the golf event which was also attended by the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Arief Yahya (EL-80), the Chairman of IAE-ITB also handed over assistance for the development of anechoic chamber in the Radio and Microwave Telecommunications Laboratory (LTRGM/Lab. Radar), which is one of the laboratories in STEI that supports educational and research activities for students and lecturers of the ITB Telecommunications Engineering Study Program.

Anechoic chamber is a room that can absorb reflections from sound waves and electromagnetic waves. With diverse applications such as in telecommunications, automotive, military, health, and aviation, the usefulness of... anechoic chamber depending on the material/ingredients.  In LTRGM, anechoic chamber used for measuring electromagnetic waves RF (Radio Frequency) radiated by the antenna. With the presence of anechoic chamber, the antenna and measuring equipment are isolated from interference and unwanted fields, thus reflecting the true characteristics of the antenna under test. With wireless telecommunications technology currently being developed being millimeter wave technology, then anechoic chamber The LTRGM is planned to be built to accommodate frequencies up to 40 GHz. This frequency range is of interest for applications including satellite (27.5, 31 GHz), research on cellular terrestrial networks (28 GHz, 38 GHz), and link backhaul (23 GHz, 38 GHz), and short-range radar (24-24.5 GHz).

For assistance with scholarships and development facilities anechoic chamber, STEI would like to express its highest gratitude and appreciation to all the management of IAE-ITB, especially to Mr. Nugi (EL-94), the IAE-ITB Golf Team, Mr. Abdus Somad Arief (Chairman of IAE-ITB), Mr. Eko Prasetyo, and Mr. Ashamdono.
