AZ Team ITB Wins International Business Competition in Singapore
ITB students have once again achieved an achievement in the international arena. In the APEX Business-IT Global Case Challenge competition held by Singapore Management University (SMU), the ITB representative team succeeded in bringing honor to Indonesia in a competition that was attended by the best teams from various renowned universities from Asia, the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong. The team, named AZ Team, consists of three students from the Information Systems and Technology (STI) study program at ITB class of 2012, namely Azfina Putri, Dilla Anindita, and Nadhira Afriani. In the final round of the competition held in Singapore on Wednesday to Friday (03 - 06/05/16), they managed to win the 2nd Runner Up position and became the only winners from universities in Asia.
In this competition, themed "Conscious Capitalism: Doing Good While Doing Business," each team was challenged to solve a case involving the Grab company. The competition was divided into several rounds, and each round required specific materials. "The most difficult part was meeting all the numerous requirements for each round, from presentations, posters, and so on," said Dilla. However, despite facing many obstacles and strong competitors, the AZ Team still managed to prove its capabilities by outperforming the fourteen other finalists who were present in Singapore. The team's unity and precision of solution were the keys to the AZ Team's success. "According to the judges, the solution we provided was excellent, so
"So we can beat the other teams," explained Dilla.
Besides the team's strong performance, AZ Team's victory was achieved thanks to the support of the STI ITB study program. One form of support was the guidance of Dr. Ir. Arry Akhmad Arman, MT, who patiently accompanied the AZ Team throughout the competition. Furthermore, support from family and close friends also motivated the three to excel in the competition.
Armed with the motivation to excel and work productively in their final year as ITB students, the AZ Team is working hard to prepare for the final stage in Singapore. However, as final year students, in the near future the AZ Team members plan to focus on completing their studies first. They sincerely hope that their achievements will motivate other ITB students to also excel in various other international events. "Don't be afraid to participate in competitions abroad. Don't be afraid about funding because it can be solved by finding sponsors. Also, don't be afraid to lose. ITB students are also smart and if they try, they can definitely outperform other teams," Dilla concluded.
