IMT "Signum" ITB Answers Challenges in the Telecommunications Sector Through Telemotion 2017
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The telecommunications sector can be said to be one of the sectors that is currently on the rise. Almost everyone involves their activities with gadgets for long-distance communication. Unfortunately, the development of this telecommunications sector is not balanced with the empowerment of the Indonesian people, nor is it supported by the existence of adequate infrastructure in the telecommunications sector. Departing from this, the Telecommunications Student Association (IMT) "Signum" ITB presents its annual major work program, Telemotion 2017, which was held on Saturday-Sunday (14-15/10/17) in the West Hall of ITB.
Telemotion, which was initially a means for ITB Telecommunication Engineering alumni to meet, later became a forum to introduce the telecommunications sector to the general public through a series of events, namely the Grand Seminar, Expo & Start Up Fair, and Innovation Challenge.
After thoroughly discussing telecommunications from a business perspective, this year Telemotion presents its seminar with the theme “Main Strategy to Realize Independent Indonesian Telecommunications”. Starting at 12:30-16:30 WIB, the seminar was filled by telecommunications sector stakeholders from the industrial realm, operators, and also regulators such as Dr. Ir. Ismail MT, Director General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Informatics (SDPPI), Ir. David Bangun, M.Eng, IPM, Director of Digital and Strategic Portfolio of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Ir. Irawan Purwono, CEO of PT Nusantara Compnet Integrator.
As the culmination of Telemotion 2017, the Grand Seminar focused on telecommunications, the implementation of current telecommunications technology, and the current state of the telecommunications industry in Indonesia. Key tips for realizing Indonesia's independent telecommunications industry without relying on foreign parties were also discussed. Not only did the seminar provide insights and ideas in the telecommunications sector, it also served as an effort to address challenges in the telecommunications industry and foster a culture of sensitivity to telecommunications issues among both students and the general public.
Through its tagline, "Connecting Ideas for Indonesia," Kurniawan (Telecommunication Engineering 2015), Chair of Telemotion 2017, hopes that Telemotion can become a platform for those who want to advance Indonesia, particularly in the telecommunications sector. "Hopefully, people will learn more about telecommunications engineering and broaden their horizons about telecommunications," he said.
