Electrical Engineering Day 2012: Exhibition of Electrical Engineering Students' Final Projects
BANDUNG, kemahasiswaan.itb.ac.id – In preparation for their final project defense, the Electrical Engineering study program held Electrical Engineering Day 2012 from Tuesday to Wednesday (June 12-13, 2012). The event featured an exhibition of ITB Electrical Engineering students' final projects. At least 20 projects were exhibited in the event, held in ITB's East Hall.
In the exhibition, each group was challenged to explain their work to visitors. Fabian (Electrical Engineering 2008) explained energy-efficient street lighting using LEDs. Andreas (Electrical Engineering 2008) also presented a golf simulator system. Also on display were works on earthquake detection instruments, aviation technology innovations using octorots, robots that can simulate soccer games, and more.
“At the end of this event there was a prize giving best engineering design "The award will be given to the group with the best-performing work. Each member of the award winner will receive a netbook," said Dr. Ir. Mervin T. Hutabarat, an Electrical Engineering lecturer and a member of the committee.
Ubah Format, Harapkan Kemajuan
This exhibition is a new format for final projects in the ITB Electrical Engineering study program. Several considerations were taken into account in this format change. First, it aims to train students to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams. Second, it aims to familiarize students with designing comprehensively. Third, this system is also designed to monitor student abilities and the willingness of supervisors to maximize results.
Furthermore, this new format is expected to optimize student abilities. The exhibition format is expected to encourage students to compete to maximize their potential. This new model also incorporates a new assessment system. Assessments include teamwork, logbooks, documents, final assignments, product demonstrations, and presentations.
"We hope that future events will see greater involvement from the industrial sector, particularly in terms of topic allocation and funding," said Mervin. The topics presented by industry are expected to be tailored to the needs of industrial and market development.
