Professor of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering (STEI) ITB, Prof. Jaka Sembiring, who is also the dean of STEI ITB, delivered his scientific speech at the West Hall of the ITB Campus, Jalan Ganesa No. 10, Bandung, Saturday, 13 July 2019.
Prof. Jaka Sembiring, in his Scientific Oration entitled “Information Science in the Era of Cyber Physical Systems” stated that: “Information science is interdisciplinary related to analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, dissemination and information protection (Jacod & Potter 2000). He continued, along with the development of human civilization both in engineering and industrial science which is now often called entering the era of “Cyber Physical Systems” we consider it necessary to develop Information Science in that context (Khaitan & McCalley, 2014).
Then, through the studies conducted, he understood that the fundamental problems in information technology were not only limited in the realm of technology, but rather how the support of Information Science in the context of analysis, classification, manipulation, and information engineering, so that the technology developed can interact with people, processes / procedures, and technology in the price in particular and society in general “.
