International Workshop SmartGrid 2015

On Monday-Thursday (30/03-02/04/15) it was held International Short Course on Smart Grid and Green Energy 2015 (ISC SMARTGRID 2015) in the East Hall of ITB. The event, organized by the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) ITB, was held in collaboration with the Institut Francais Indonesia and the French Embassy in Indonesia. The organizers successfully presented eight professors from four French universities: the University of Toulouse, the University of Grenoble, the University of Le Havre, and the University of Belfort.

According to the secretary of ISC SMARTGRID 2015, Dr. Ing. Deny Hamdani, ISC SMARTGRID 2015 aims to provide insight into the electricity system, particularly in the areas of smart grid and green energy. The attendees were professionals, with the majority representing PT PLN. On this occasion, PT PLN also presented keynote speakerIn addition to PT PLN, representatives from energy, petrochemical, electronics, mining, government, and academic companies were also present.

The opening agenda included remarks from the ITB Rector, the French Embassy, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Ngapuli I. Sinisuka, the committee chairman. The ISC SMARTGRID 2015 continued for the next four days with lectures delivered by various speakers. Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD), an organization involved in the development of developing countries, also participated in the series of events. AFD presented a gallery of 60 Solutions Against Climate Change” which contains information about addressing energy and environmental problems.

Smart Grid And Green Energy

Smart grid is the concept of modernizing the electricity system with information and communication technology to optimize the supply and demand for electrical energy. Currently, the trend in energy production is shifting toward new and renewable energy (green energy). Umumnya, produksi green energy This is done on a small scale by electricity users. Therefore, effective and efficient electricity management between producers and consumers is needed.

The ever-increasing demand for electrical energy necessitates energy conservation. Energy conservation can be achieved in two ways: substituting more efficient materials and managing the use of electrical devices. With information and communication technology, . can provide solutions to these problems.

International Joint Master Programme

ISC SMARTGRID 2015 was also held in the context of the opening International Joint Master Programme (IJMP) between the ITB Electrical Power Engineering Study Program and the University of Toulouse and the University of Grenoble. ITB chose the University of Toulouse and the University of Grenoble as partners in this program because they are both leading institutions in the field of smart grids in France. The relationship between ITB and the University of Toulouse also goes back 40 years. This program is supported by Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) explored by ITB and the University of Toulouse in 2014.

The IJMP is targeted to open in January 2016. Under the program, students will spend the first year at ITB and the next year at a European university. By participating in the IJMP, students are expected to earn a diploma recognized by three parties: ITB, the partner university, and the European Union.
