ITB Robotics Team Wins the 19th FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2014
The Bandung Institute of Technology Robotics Team once again demonstrated its achievements at the 19th International Robot Competition.th FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2014 with its achievement as Second Place in the HuroCup United Soccer category, in Beijing, China.
The FIRA RoboWorld Cup (FIRA CUP) is an annual robot soccer competition organized by the Federation of International Robot-Soccer Associations (FIRA). This year, the 19th edition was held at Shijingshan Stadium, Shijingshan, Beijing, China, from November 5–11, 2014.
The FIRA CUP began in 1995, and the first international championship was held in Daejeon, Korea, in 1996. Subsequent FIRA CUP competitions were held in several countries such as: England, India, South Korea, China, the United States, Germany, Singapore, Australia, France, Brazil, and Malaysia. The 2014 edition in China marked the nineteenth edition.
Like soccer, soccer robots also have specific rules. The FIRA CUP has seven categories: Micro-Robot Soccer Tournament (MiroSot), Simulated Robot Soccer Tournament (SimuroSot), Humanoid Robot Soccer Tournament (HuroCup), AmireSot, NaroSot, AndroSot, and RoboSot. In this competition, robots intelligently and independently play soccer without direct human control. Human involvement is limited to refereeing matches and managing the robot players.
On 19th In the 2014 FIRA CUP, the Bandung Institute of Technology Robotics Team sent 4 humanoid robots to compete in the HuroCup category. In this HuroCup, the robots have a human-like shape with two legs, so they are called humanoid robots. In the HuroCup category, there are nine challenges, namely: Penalty Kick, Obstacle Run, Sprint, Marathon, Lift and Carry, Weight Lifting, Basketball, Climbing Wall and United Soccer. The ITB Robotics Team managed to get second place for the HuroCup United Soccer.
The 2014 FIRA ITB Team, which comes from the ITB Robotics Activity Unit, is a combination of students from the Informatics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics Study Programs. The members of the FIRA ITB 2014 Team are: Sholehhudin Al Ayubi (Physics 2011), Bima Nugraha Sanusi (Electrical Engineering 2011), Yaqub Aris Prabowo (Electrical Engineering 2011), Muhammad Luqman (Electrical Engineering 2011), Primawan Dwi Nugroho (Electrical Engineering 2011), Alinda Nur Fitriana (Electrical Engineering 2012), Radhian Ferel Armansyah (Electrical Engineering 2012), Alamsyah Setyo Nugroho (Mechanical Engineering 2012), Rakhmatullah Yoga (Informatics Engineering 2012), Irvin Shandy (Mechanical Engineering 2012), Khoirunnisa Afifah (Informatics Engineering 2012), Fahziar Riesad Wutono (Informatics Engineering 2012), Wahyu Trisvianto (Physics 2012), and Eko Budi Satriyo (Mechanical Engineering 2012).
