ITB's hacker team represents Indonesia in Thailand
Kuta, Bali, (ANTARA News) - The JAV hacker team from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has the right to represent Indonesia in the ASEAN level hacker competition in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2017, after winning the national hacker competition "Cyber Jawara" at the "Code Bali 2017" event in Legian, Kuta, Bali, September 26-28.
"In the award ceremony on Thursday (28/9) evening, second place was won by the Usagi Security Team from the University of Indonesia and third place was won by the Bogor Agricultural Institute team, Neither Fast Nor Accurate," said the Chairman of ID-SIRTII as the organizer of the Cyber Jawara competition, Dr. Rudi Lumanto, in Kuta, Bali, Friday.
The ITB team that won the National Hacker Competition "Cyber Jawara 2017" consisted of members Jason Jeremy Iman, Aufar Gilbran And Muhamad Visat Sutarno. They managed to edge out their closest competitor, the Usagi Security Team from the University of Indonesia, while the third-place team went to the "Neither Fast Nor Accurate" team from IPB.
"We didn't expect to win, because the questions on the test were very varied, complicated and challenging," said Jason from the ITB team.
Moreover, the questions are more difficult than last year, said ID-SIRTII Chairman Dr. Rudi Lumanto. "I'm sure the quality of this year's winners is much better than last year's because the questions are more varied and difficult," he said.
He hopes that the greater weight of the problem will encourage the champion to be even more enthusiastic about qualifying for the ASEAN-level hacker competition in Bangkok, Thailand, next November.
Similarly, the chairman of the "Cyber Jawara 2017" committee, Miftah Setiadi, admitted that there was indeed a score tie during the attack and defense game. In this game, all teams attacked and defended their respective servers.
"Game attack and defense are the most important aspects, aside from digital forensics games, reverse engineering challenges, and reporting or report creation," said Miftah.
The 2017 Cyber Jawara National Hacker Competition was attended by 172 teams through online elimination rounds across five zones: Zone 1 in Sumatra-Kalimantan, Zone 2 in Banten-Jakarta-West Java, Zone 3 in Central Java-Yogyakarta, Zone 4 in East Java-Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Zone 5 in Sulawesi-Maluku-Papua.
From the preliminary round, 11 teams were selected, then three teams were added from the champions of the inter-campus hacker competition throughout Indonesia, the champion team of the Cyber Defense Competition held by the Ministry of Defense and also the Indonesian Air Force and Navy teams, so that 18 teams went through the final round in Legian Kuta in conjunction with the Code Bali 2017 international conference and workshop.
