Robotics Technology as a Way to Prepare for the Challenges of the Times
The Electrical Engineering Study Program of STEI ITB, in collaboration with the Robotics Student Activity Unit (Robotics Unit) held a seminar on Robotics Technology on Saturday, March 10, 2012. This seminar was held as part of the Professional/Community Development lecture activities (EL4093, 4193 and 4293) where students taking these courses are required to report the results of their activities in an open seminar. Another objective is as a form of responsibility for the ITB robotics team that has competed in the 2011 KRI KRCI KRSI robot competition, where all teams are required to report the results of their activities to the ITB community. In addition, the implementation of this seminar is used as a socialization to the community regarding robotics technology, future developments, research prospects that can be done on campus, as well as robotics competition activities, especially KRI KRCI and KRSI. Considering these many objectives, this seminar raises the theme "Robotics Technology as a Way to Prepare for the Challenges of the Times."
The event, which lasted from morning to afternoon, began with an opening by the Head of the Electrical Engineering Study Program at STEI ITB, Dr. Ir. Arief Syaichu Rohman, which was followed by the awarding of certificates of appreciation to students who had represented STEI at the event KRI KRCI and KRSI 2011. Then the event was filled with presentations from several speakers who were present, namely in the first session, Dr. Widyawardana presented on current robotics technology and its future prospects. This was to provide participants with insight into what robots are, technological developments, and the prospects for research in the field of robotics, particularly within ITB. The next speaker Ir. Indrawanto, Ph.D is a member of the national jury for KRI KRCI and KRSI. He explained the contest activities, including the aims and objectives of the activity, the competition categories and the rules of the competition in each category (KRI, KRCI on legs, KRCI on wheels, KRCI Humanoid Soccer, KRSI).
The third session was filled with presentations by each tobot team that competed in each category in the 2011 KRI KRCI KRSI at UGM Yogyakarta, they explained their experiences and strategies that had been carried out in previous matches. "It is hoped that this seminar will become a regular activity of the Electrical Engineering study program. In addition to being a forum for Professional / Community Development lectures, it is also a form of responsibility for each student who has carried out activities representing ITB in various competitions, olympiads, competitions, or other activities, to disseminate it to the ITB campus community," explained Dr. Kusprasapta Mutijarsa as the Supervisor of the STEI ITB Robotics Team.
The seminar, which was attended by almost 100 participants from ITB and from outside ITB, ended with the launch and introduction of the ITB robot team members who will compete in the KRI KRCI KRSI 2012 competition on May 25-27, 2012. Good luck to the teams who will compete.
