SEEI Represents ITB at the IKN Game Developer Workshop: Encouraging 500 Gen-Z Students to Build National Self-Reliance through the Game Industry

Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – In support of human resource development in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), together with strategic partners, organized a workshop entitled “500 Beginner Game Developers for Senior/Vocational High School Students: 500 Gen-Z Youths Dare to Dream, Play Together, and Build National Self-Reliance.” The activity was led by Dr. Agung Dewandaru, S.T., M.Sc., from the Metaverse Laboratory of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB as Chief Organizer, with Algo Alghazali, a SEEI ITB lecturer, serving as Coordinator of Metaverse Nusantara. .. ..

This workshop, which formed part of ITB’s Community Service Program, received full support from the ITB Directorate of Research, Community Service, and Innovation (DRPM) and the Nusantara Capital Authority. The event was driven by SEEI ITB and the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) ITB and involved collaboration with Agate & Agate Academy, OzyGames Studio, the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), Bebras Indonesia, and the Metaverse Laboratory of SEEI ITB, with sponsorship support from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and Bank Kaltimtara.

The event was officially opened by the Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of the Nusantara Capital Authority, Drs. Alimuddin, M.Si., who expressed his hope that the program would serve as an initial step for the younger generation to develop skills and interests in the creative technology sector. During the opening ceremony, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was also signed between ITB and ITK to continue collaborative activities in the future to support human resource development in IKN and its surrounding areas.

Out of 794 students who participated online, 120 students were selected to take part in an intensive workshop held on 2–3 November 2024 at the Integrated Laboratory of ITK. During the workshop, participants learned the fundamentals of game development and explored the economic potential of digital technology. Dr. Agung Dewandaru expressed hope that the program would open opportunities for participants to contribute to the creative industry and inspire them to become part of the development of highly competitive human resources, in line with IKN’s vision as an advanced and sustainable technology-driven city. . .

Through this activity, SEEI ITB hopes to open pathways for participants to explore careers in technology and the digital sector, which are highly relevant to the vision of IKN as a technologically advanced and sustainable city.
