STEI ITB Supports the Development of a National Rural Electricity Planning Methodology
Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Bandung Institute of Technology received an invitation from the Center for Human Resource Development for Electricity, New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (PPSDM KEBTKE), Human Resource Development Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), to provide academic input on the methodology for national rural electricity surveys and planning.
This activity is part of the Directorate General of Electricity, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' efforts to support the acceleration of equitable access to electricity throughout Indonesia. PPSDM KEBTKE is tasked with implementing the Rural Electrification Planning for Medium Voltage Distribution Networks (JTM) and Low Voltage Distribution Networks (JTR), which will serve as the basis for the implementation of electricity distribution network construction in Fiscal Year 2026.

As a strategic initial step, this planning is developed through a survey methodology and technical planning that will be used nationally and implemented in coordination with PT PLN (Persero) in each working area. Therefore, the involvement of universities is deemed essential to ensure the methodology used meets scientific principles and electricity technical standards, while also addressing the safety, reliability, and sustainability of the electricity system.
In this regard, STEI ITB acts as an academic partner by providing professional insights, suggestions, and input on the developed methodology. The discussion and input will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, in the STEI Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Labtek VIII Building, Bandung Institute of Technology.
Through this participation, STEI ITB affirms its commitment to supporting national strategic policies and programs, particularly in the electricity sector, as well as actively contributing to the development of sustainable and equitable energy infrastructure planning for all Indonesian people.
