The Head of BPTI and Acting Head of Puspresnas, Asep Sukmayadi, revealed the importance of establishing the Gemastik alumni community as a forum for developing the talents of Indonesia's best students in the field of information and communication technology.
"Through Gemastik, Indonesia's young generation is expected to be able to hone their empathy as part of an intellectual community that contributes positively by providing innovative solutions to various existing problems," said Asep at the Closing and Award Ceremony of Gemastik XV in 2022 at the Algorithm Auditorium of the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (November 24, 2022).
The final round of Gemastik XV this year competed in 11 divisions, participated by 224 teams from universities throughout Indonesia and involved judges from UPI, Telkom University, UGM, IPB, ITB, ITS, Tanjungpura University, UB, Amikom University Yogyakarta, ISI Surakarta, Unpas, Duta Wacana Christian University, Binus, Gunadarma University, UI, and professional practitioners.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, Vice Rector III of Brawijaya University, Abdul Hakim, expressed his support and readiness to continue developing the Gemastik event as a concrete demonstration of Freedom to Learn (Merdeka Belajar) beyond students' routine teaching and learning activities. Abdul Hakim, as Vice Rector for Student Affairs at Brawijaya University, emphasized the importance of participating in competitions.
"Winning and losing in competitions is commonplace. But how do we interpret the extraordinary experience of participating alongside our friends from other universities? It's hard to come by. Education without other soft skills development activities will be difficult once we graduate," Abdul said.
