SEEI ITB Receives Visit from PLN Director of Transmission and System Planning to Discuss Research Collaboration Opportunities in Power Systems

Bandung, stei.itb.aci.id – The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB received a visit from the Director of Transmission and System Planning of PLN on Friday, 14 November 2025, held in the Meeting Room, Labtek VIII, 2nd Floor. This visit served as a strategic discussion forum focusing on the direction of national power system development, particularly in response to the increasing penetration of renewable energy into Indonesia’s electricity grid.

During the meeting, PLN presented the government’s plan to implement a nationwide 100 GW solar cell installation program as part of efforts to increase green energy contribution and stimulate national economic growth. The discussion also highlighted the challenges arising from the shifting paradigm of power systems, which must now accommodate a growing number of renewable energy generators. One key point of discussion was the need for advanced power converter technologies to maintain the stability and reliability of an increasingly complex grid. . .

In addition, the meeting explored collaboration opportunities between PLN and SEEI ITB. Both institutions share a vision of preparing human resources with strong technical understanding related to renewable energy penetration in power systems. During the discussion, PLN expressed its readiness to support SEEI ITB by providing technical information and access to relevant facilities to enhance the competencies of students and researchers.

Moving forward, PLN and SEEI ITB agreed to strengthen communication and refine plans for collaboration in the form of capacity building, training, and other development programs. PLN also welcomed SEEI ITB to visit the Load Dispatch Center (Gandul) to broaden understanding of national power system operations.

Through this meeting, both parties hope to establish closer collaboration to support Indonesia’s energy transition while enhancing the role of universities in advancing power system technology innovation.
