New Student Admissions Are Divided into Two Optional Pathways
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) is one of the most sought-after faculties and schools among students during the state university entrance selection process. To meet this enthusiasm, STEI-ITB held a Virtual Open House 2022 on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Students and parents from across Indonesia attended the event.
STEI-ITB offers six undergraduate study programs: electrical engineering, electrical power engineering, biomedical engineering, informatics engineering, systems engineering and information technology, and telecommunications engineering. STEI-ITB offers three postgraduate programs: a doctorate in electrical engineering and informatics, a master's degree in informatics, and a master's degree in electrical engineering.
Five of the six undergraduate programs at STEI-ITB have ABET international accreditation and are nationally recognized as excellent. STEI-ITB also has nine Expertise Groups (KK), including Software Engineering and Knowledge, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, and others. These various KKs actively conduct valuable research.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, STEI-ITB will be divided into two: STEI-Engineering and STEI-Computing. STEI-R includes the study programs of electrical engineering, electrical power engineering, biomedical engineering, and telecommunications engineering. Meanwhile, STEI-K includes informatics engineering, systems engineering, and information technology. This grouping is intended to provide prospective students with the opportunity to choose more closely related study groups. "So, STEI-K and STEI-R are groups formed to facilitate all of you to be a little more focused in choosing closely related study program groups," he said. Dr.techn. Saiful Akbar, ST,MT., Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs STEI-ITB.

With this grouping, prospective students can certainly become more familiar with the study programs they'll choose. Furthermore, students already know their individual interests and what they want to pursue.
However, the question arises: what if prospective students are interested in both faculties? Answering this question, Saiful explained that they actually have the opportunity to study in the other field. "For example, in the STEI-R study program, students learn more or less about software, although the emphasis is on electrical power," he said.
This policy will make prospective students feel less burdened when choosing a study program in their second year. "So this grouping will not worry new students if they end up jumping majors too far," said the Deputy Dean of STEI-ITB. He likened the north and south poles separated by the equator. Concluding his presentation, he welcomed them to the STEI environment. "STEI is great, let's study together at STEI," he concluded.
