STEI At the 98th Anniversary Exhibition of PTTI

Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) held an open session, Wednesday (4/7/2018), in the West Hall of ITB and held an exhibition of research, innovation and community service works in the East Hall of ITB, Jalan Ganesa, Bandung City, Wednesday-Thursday (4-5/7/2018).

The two activities were held to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Indonesian Higher Technical Education (PTTI). The 98th anniversary of PTTI refers to the founding of the Technische Hogeschool (TH) in 1920, the first technical college in Indonesia.

TH is a university that transformed into the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1959. At the event, ITB Rector Kadarsah Suryadi encouraged all providers of engineering higher education to develop their education to produce bachelor's, master's, and doctoral graduates capable of connecting humanity with technology. Thus, he said, the resulting technology would enable people to work and engage in other activities comfortably and productively.

"In other words, the bachelors, masters, and doctorates in engineering that we produce are able to design products and services by paying attention to both sides, namely the human side and the engineering side," said Kadarsah, quoted from a written statement. "In turn, graduates from our engineering colleges are able to make decisions on complex problems based on analytical, objective, responsible, professional, and trustworthy judgments, and have the ability to carry out lifelong learning."

At the event, the Indonesian Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Menristekdikti) Mohammad Nasir was present and delivered a scientific speech on the theme of technological progress and the fourth generation industrial revolution and its challenges for universities.

STEI had the opportunity to display the results of its research in the form of posters and products at the exhibition.
