Socialization GREEN TECHNO – ART CAMPUS (KAMPUS WALINI)

Last Friday, April 13, 2012, STEI conducted a socialization about Green Techno – Art Campus to the lecturers of STEI ITB from Mrs. Yani Panigoro as the head of the Green Techno – Art Campus organization. The event which lasted for approximately 2 hours explained that Green Techno – Art Campus for Indonesia is an ITB initiative to accelerate the National Science and Technology capability, as one of the main strategies of the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development 2011 – 2025 by increasing the capacity and quality of higher education and research through the development of an integrated area “Green Techno – Art Campus”, which is an integration between education, research and the surrounding community area.

The Green Techno-Art Campus is planned to be built on a 1,000-hectare site currently used as a PTPN VIII tea plantation, specifically the Panglejar Afdeling in West Bandung Regency, West Java Province. The land will be developed into a 70% green area and 30% will be used as a community area for higher education, research, a "Techno Park, Science Park, Art Park," and other supporting infrastructure.

The Green Techno-Art Campus is expected to provide benefits that will foster competent human resources (HR) and research that adds value to become drivers and agents of national development. These benefits are as follows:

1. Increasing the capacity of the Indonesian nation in producing competent Human Resources (HR) in the fields of technology, science, arts, business and management.
2. The formation of relationships between higher education, government and industry.
3. Increasing diversity in education and research fields.
4. Creating potential new job opportunities around the campus area.

The Green Techno-Art Campus itself is a joint project between the Bandung Institute of Technology, PT. Perkebunan Nusantara VIII, and the West Java Provincial Government and West Bandung Regency.
