The Electrical and Informatics Engineering doctoral program covers the fields of Electrical Power Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, Computers, Control Systems & Computers, Biomedicine, Software & Data Engineering, Informatics, and Information Technology. This program is designed so that graduates can demonstrate the ability and skills to research independently in one or more branches included in the above fields in original research. The results of this research should also add to the existing body of knowledge of electrical and informatics engineering or reveal new problems that, according to the rules of engineering science, can be proven in a dissertation without doubt.
Education Objectives
- Graduates can become independent professional researchers in the field of Electrical Engineering & Informatics or related fields.
- Graduates can guide student research at all levels of higher education for those who choose a career in academia.
- Graduates can innovate products/technology in their workplace for those working in the industrial sector.
- Graduates have leadership in research activities or in professional careers in their scientific fields.

Doctoral Program Stages
In general terms, the Curriculum of the Doctoral Program in Electrical Engineering and Informatics is divided into 4 Stages, namely:
- Stage I or the Qualification Stage
- Stage II or the Proposal Preparation Stage
- Stage III or the Research Stage
- Stage IV or the Dissertation Examination Stage
Tahap Kualifikasi
At this stage, doctoral students are required to attend a number of courses, including the Qualifying Exam. These courses are taken to partially fulfill residency requirements and, if necessary, as preparation for the qualifying exam. The Qualifying Exam can only be taken after students have registered and taken courses for at least one semester. Students are deemed to have completed this stage if they pass the qualifying exam. This first stage must be completed within a maximum of two semesters.
Tahap Penyusunan Proposal
At this stage, students are required to prepare a research proposal. Students are deemed to have completed this stage if their proposal is approved by the advisory team and deemed suitable for doctoral research by the assessment team. Students must complete this second stage within four semesters of starting the doctoral program.
Research Stage
At this stage, students conduct research and are required to regularly report their progress. At this stage, students also write the results of their research into a dissertation and into a scientific paper to be published as an international scientific publication. Students are declared to have completed this stage if (1) all courses, except the Dissertation Examination course, have been declared passed, (2) the student has fulfilled the requirements for scientific publication, and (3) the dissertation compiled by the student and approved by the supervisor team is declared worthy as a doctoral dissertation by the assessment team.
The Doctoral Program Research Stage at STEI is divided into four stages of research progress as follows:
Research and Progress Seminar I
Pra-syarat: Pass the Qualification Exam and Research Proposal
Syarat Kelulusan: Able to maintain a convincing method for solving research problems. Demonstrated by a report that includes acceptable analysis and arguments.
Research and Progress Seminar II
Pra-syarat: Lulus Penelitiandan Seminar Kemajuan I
Syarat Kelulusan: Have explored the proposed solution method at the First Progress Seminar as evidenced by the results of initial research.
Research and Progress Seminar III
Pra-syarat: Graduated from Research and Progress Seminar II
Syarat KelulusanHas produced scientific contributions that can be published at international conferences in their field, as evidenced in the form of a draft paper that has been approved by the Supervisory Team.
Research and Progress Seminar IV
Pra-syarat: Graduated from Research and Progress Seminar III and International Conference Papers have been accepted.
SyaratKelulusan:
Has produced a complete scientific contribution that is worthy of being written in a dissertation and draft for an international journal that has been approved by the supervisor.
Tahap Ujian Disertasi
At this stage, students take exams to defend their dissertation and refine their writing. This fourth stage must be completed within a maximum of 10 semesters.
