Prof. Dwi Hendratmo W., Ph.D is an expert in this field. The man, who currently serves as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at ITB, explained that he has actually been involved in this field since completing his undergraduate studies. Until finally, he devoted himself totally to this field while pursuing his Masters and Doctoral studies in Texas, United States. Machine learning became the topic he chose for his thesis and dissertation at that time. This has continued to this day, where Mr. Dwi continues to pursue research in the field of ., both in theory and application.

Machine Learning is a Branch of Artificial Intelligence

Pak Dwi berpendapat, . It could be considered part of AI, as machines or computers are designed to learn human emotions, attitudes, and habits.

So, is it possible in the future that computers will have their own feelings and emotions? To answer this question, Mr. Dwi stated that this topic is currently being developed in research. He doesn't deny the possibility that in the future—with the data currently available—a computer capable of mimicking human emotions could be created. 

Machine Learning and Indonesia

When asked about the gap in science and technology between Indonesia and developed countries like America, the man who earned his master's and doctoral degrees at Texas A&M University explained that the significant difference only lies in the issue of funding or pendanaan. 

Mr. Dwi explained that in developed countries, there are already specialized organizations like the NSF that have dedicated funding for developing cutting-edge research. Technically, these organizations provide challenge Researchers are encouraged to find solutions to new, yet unsolved problems. In Indonesia, however, we haven't reached this stage yet, as our country is currently more focused on finding ways to apply research findings for the benefit of the wider community.

Currently, Mr. Dwi is trying to be more consistent in researching and following the latest developments in the field. ., also conducting research by maximizing available funds and facilities. Furthermore, his role as a lecturer and teacher also requires him to be able to produce output-output such as publications and paper-paper quality. 

Apart from publications, Mr. Dwi also develops prototype produk terapan machine learning, seperti platform intelligent surveillance or smart surveillance where he utilizes technology . to analyze the content of videos into a form of information that can be accessed quickly.

Mr. Dwi also advised his students to study diligently and maximize all available facilities. According to him, . is a field that will dominate in the future, so the knowledge learned during college will definitely be used in all fields.
