Nuvoton Tech. Corp. (Chinese Taipei) Cooperation with STEI
The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Bandung Institute of Technology collaborates with Nuvoton Technology Corporation of Chinese Taipei in the Academic Program
The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Bandung Institute of Technology (STEI ITB) has established a partnership with Nuvoton Technology Corporation (NTC), a Chinese Taipei chip design company, interested in partnering in the “Academic Program”. The MoU was signed on January 16, 2014. In this program, Nuvoton provides a NuMicro ARM Cortex™-M0 NUC 140 microcontroller learning board, documents, facilities for classes, labs, and research based on ARM Cortex™-M0 microcontrollers. Nuvoton has donated 30 units of NuMicro ARM Cortex™-M0 microcontroller learning boards. This program will provide a platform for microprocessor-based and embedded system teaching programs for students, lecturers, and professors at STEI ITB. The goal of this program is to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the latest 32-bit ARM Cortex™-M0 microcontroller technology. It is hoped that this program will result in a mutually beneficial transfer of information and technology between industry and academia and will also result in a technology transfer between the two countries, Indonesia and Chinese Taipei.
Dr. Waskita Adijarto, for many years has been actively involved in teaching and research applications related to microprocessors and embedded systems. He is a doctor who is the main key in realizing the Nuvoton Academic Program at STEI ITB. The Nuvoton academic program is primarily aimed at providing training to students in the field of microcontrollers for the next 1 to 2 decades, also may have the opportunity to expand the field of cooperation for project research or software development in the next step. The program started in 2012 and Nuvoton will visit STEI ITB for the second time on March 22, 2013 for meetings and discussions with academic program partners.
Nuvoton NuMicro ARM Cortex™-M0 microprocessor learning board helps STEI ITB to upgrade its microcontroller to 32-bit MCU level, and also helps STEI ITB in developing embedded system research program applications. The NuMicro ARM Cortex™-M0 microprocessor learning board package also provides free software development tools, drivers, and source code examples.

Microprocessors in the next 20 years, are still widely used in the main architecture of automation and electronics, and it is hoped that through this academic program it can help STEI ITB students to be able to pursue industrial technology and industrial synchronization standards for more competitive individual skills.
The 32-bit ARM Cortex™-M0 microprocessor significantly improves the computing speed and performance of applications commonly used in automotive electronics, such as audio, window controls, navigation systems, and so on, through the internet and vehicle electronics communications, to expand the functionality of the vehicle system better. Nuvoton's academic program also aims to make ARM Cortex™-M0 technology the latest platform for the embedded system industry, not only to learn basic control theory and its implementation, but also to enable students to learn the basic tools and production processes required by an electronic engineer, because the information content and practical examples can help students significantly improve their skills for their future needs. In the future, Nuvoton will continue to support microcontroller-based research conducted by STEI ITB through further training and research collaborations.
