University of Malaya Students Visit STEI ITB to Strengthen Academic and Cultural Collaboration

Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id — The School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) received an academic visit from the University of Malaya for three days, on April 27–29, 2026. This activity aims to strengthen relations between institutions while encouraging collaboration in the fields of education, research and cultural exchange.

The visit involved students and representatives from the University of Malaya and the academic community of STEI ITB. The series of activities took place on the ITB campus and at several locations in and around Bandung.

On the first day, Monday (27/4/2026), the activity began with an opening session and remarks delivered by the Dean of STEI ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tutun Juhana, ST, MT, located in the Labtek VIII Meeting Room, 2nd Floor. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of international collaboration as a means of exchanging knowledge and experience between students. After the opening session, the Universiti Malaya group participated in a cultural visit to the Tangkuban Perahu area as a form of introduction to Indonesian culture and environment.

Entering the second day, Tuesday (April 28, 2026), the activities continued with a lab tour of several laboratories at STEI ITB. The laboratories visited included the Energy Conversion Laboratory, the Biomedical Laboratory, the High Voltage and Current Engineering Laboratory, and the Radio and Microwave Telecommunications Laboratory. This activity provided a first-hand look at STEI ITB's research and development facilities.

After the lab tour, students from both universities attended a mini workshop held at the Metaverse Laboratory, Labtek V, 3rd Floor. This workshop served as an interactive forum for exchanging ideas and knowledge, particularly in the development of digital-based technology and the latest innovations.

On the final day, Wednesday (April 29, 2026), the series of activities concluded with a mini hackathon held at the East Campus Gallery, involving students from Universiti Malaya and STEI ITB. This activity was designed to encourage cross-cultural collaboration in solving technology-based problems while strengthening relationships between students from both institutions.

Through this series of activities, it is hoped that a closer relationship will be established between STEI ITB and Universiti Malaya, as well as opening up opportunities for sustainable collaboration in the future, both in the academic and research fields.
