ITB Informatics Students Qualify for the Finals of ACM ICPC 2013 in Russia

A group of ITB Informatics undergraduate students who are members of the Dongskar Pendongi team, consisting of Irvan Jahja (IF 2009), Christianto Handojo (IF 2010) and Ahmad Zaky (IF 2012), managed to qualify for the final round. World Finals ACM ICPC 2013 which will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia on June 30 – July 4, 2013. The Dongskar Pedongi team secured a place in the final through the Asian regional contest held in Jakarta in October 2012. This team was originally ranked third in the contest (no. 1 and 2 teams from Taiwan), but due to various reasons, rule, among other things, they are the best local team, they get more points so they are entitled to advance to the final in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) itself is a programming contest multitier, in teams, and hosted by ACM and based at Baylor University. This context consists of regional contests held globally, with regional winners advancing to the ACM-ICPC World Finals. This contest emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and innovation in software development, and also serves as a test of the students' abilities.
The ACM ICPC is the world's most competitive computer programming contest. Indonesia rarely has a representative qualifying for the World Finals due to the challenging Asian regional round, which involves facing teams from China, Taiwan, and other countries. The Dongskar Pedongi team has reached the World Finals for two consecutive years (last year in Poland), a feat no other team in Indonesia has matched. The Dongskar Pedongi team has also previously menjuarai IEEE 24-Hour Programming Competition in November 2012.
This is certainly a proud achievement for ITB Informatics. Congratulations to Irvan Jahja, Christianto Handojo, and Ahmad Zaky! Let's pray for the Dongskar Pedongi team to succeed and bring honor to Indonesia and ITB at the 2013 ACM ICPC World Finals in St. Petersburg, Russia.
