Microsoft Research Visit

Taking place in the STEI meeting room, Ahmad Bakrie Building, 2nd Floor, today, Tuesday, March 1, 2011, the Dean of STEI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Suwarno welcomed the arrival of the Microsoft Research Team. The visit, attended by STEI lecturers, included a discussion with Mr. Tony Hey, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft for External Research.

The topics discussed in the discussion were as follows:

1. ITB's research direction and strategy
2. Microsoft Research vision, strategy and programs
3. Melihat kemungkinan kesempatan kolaborasi riset

The event then continued with a short presentation from Dr. Ir. Imam Kristijantoro on the relationship between STEI's research activities and ITB's. The goals of this visit were to provide opportunities for research collaboration and agree on a roadmap leading to the establishment of a Microsoft Research Lab in Indonesia, specifically at ITB.

And the visit to STEI was concluded with a public lecture “The Fourth Paradigm: Data Intensive Scientific Discovery” by Mr. Tony Hey in the STEI Multimedia room, Ahmad Bakrie Building, 2nd Floor. The participants consisted of lecturers and students. After the visit from STEI, the Microsoft team will meet with the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation – ITB, Dr. Wawan Gunawan A. Kadir, MS, to sign the MoU between MIC and ITB.
