On Friday, April 4, 2014, a public lecture was held in Room 9302 of GKU Timur with the theme "Build Your Startup" delivered by Bandung Digital Valley-BDV Mentor Yohan Totting.

Building a startup should start young. Finding ideas for a startup should stem from existing problems, not just the coolness of the app. There are two ways to generate ideas: first, create a prototype and then build on that. Or, find someone else who can. There are also two ways to start a business: bootstrapping (utilizing your own resources from the start) or incubation (utilizing assistance from other institutions).

Another way is to accelerate, which involves creating a well-thought-out idea straight away. The challenges of building a startup include ensuring the idea is truly usable, strengthening motivation, finding users, surviving in the startup world, and generating disruption and revenue.
